A Cocktail Party for Wine Lovers

Want to serve a twist on the classic cocktail party? These wine-based drinks are bound to impress.

The Classics:

Bellini (Not just for brunch)
2 oz. peach nectar
½ oz. fresh lemon juice
3 oz. cold Prosecco

Combine peach nectar and juice in a Champagne glass. Add Prosecco.

French 75 (A New Orleans favorite)
2 oz. brandy
1 oz. fresh lemon juice
1 Tbs. simple syrup*
1/3 cup cold dry Champagne

Shake brandy, juice and syrup over ice. Strain into a Champagne glass. Add Champagne. Garnish with lemon peel.

Manhattan Cooler
½ cup dry red wine
2 oz. fresh lemon juice
Splash of dark rum
1 Tbs. simple syrup*

Shake all ingredients over ice. Strain into a tumbler over ice.

Or try this new cocktail, given to us by wine importers Frederick Wildman:

Tiramisu Martini
2 oz. Folonari Shiraz
1 oz. cold espresso
½ oz. Crème de Cocoa Dark
½ oz. Smirnoff Vanilla Twist

Shake all ingredients over ice. Strain into a martini glass rimmed with cocoa powder. Garnish with a ladyfinger cookie.

*To make simple syrup, combine 1 part water and 1 part sugar in a jar. Shake until sugar is dissolved. Keep refrigerated. Simple, isn’t it?
