The Storm will be placed in the highly competitive IWFL Eastern Conference. ”We are thrilled with the opportunity to be a part of the IWFL. The players and coaches are very excited to participate at the level of play the IWFL teams have achieved. Football is big in Kansas City and I know the city will embrace the newest addition to the Kansas City football scene.” said the Storm’s owner, Nance Wernes. “The Storm organization is exactly what the IWFL was looking for in the mid west. Top notch management that will create success for the team and sport in Kansas City.” stated IWFL Conference Director, Kezia Disney. The Kansas City Storm was founded by players for players. The mission to provide a safe, positive and fun opportunity for women to play football speaks to the commitment of delivering a quality experience for women. Most women never before had a chance to experience the game as a player, in an organized league. “I’ve always loved the game of football. I played a lot in the neighborhood growing up, mostly with boys. Giving women the chance to don pads and cleats and compete against other women is an awesome feeling.” said Wernes. Founded in 2000, the IWFL is a member organization of team owners created to support the new sport of women's tackle football. The IWFL enables its member teams to function independently, focusing on their local markets while combining resources and strategies for the successful marketing and promotion of women's football. The IWFL is home to the most successful and talented women’s football teams in the United States. New teams undergo extensive background checks and interviews before being admitted to the league. This process ensures the level of play remains high for the fans and enables the IWFL to continue to set the standard as America’s number one women’s football league. The Storm is currently recruiting players, coaches and staff members. For more information please contact Nance Wernes at 913-402-8294 or kansascitystorm@yahoo.com. |
