KC hopes to Krunch Nashville.

Earlier this month, the KC Krunch became
the Midwest Division Champions of the National Women's Football
Association. They did so with a vulgar display of power,
beating the Denton Stampede 56-0. Now, following a well-earned
bye, the Krunch are preparing for their first-ever playoff
game. Last year, in its inaugural season, the Krunch missed
a trip to the playoffs by one point. But prospects are good
this year as the team heads into the postseason with a 6-2
record. In fact, the players are attempting to rustle up
some donations for travel expenses in case they advance
to the next playoff level. They're just three wins away
from the July 31 championship game at the University of
Louisville in Kentucky.
But first thing's first. Saturday's game against the 7-1
Nashville Dream starts at 4 p.m. at J.C. Harmon High School
(2400 Steele Road, just off the 18th Street Expressway in
Kansas City, Kansas). Admission costs $15 for adults and
$5 for anyone younger than 18. For tickets, call 913-906-9496;
see www.womensfootball
association.com for more league information -- or at
least to print out the awesome Little Girl's Football Coloring
Book, which we definitely recommend for any pint-sized punters
you might know. -- Sarah Smarsh
