Andover
site of professional women's football game
by David Dinell
The business of women's professional football is coming
to the Wichita area, at least in the form of an exhibition
game.
A game between the Kansas City Krunch
and the Oklahoma City Lighting has been scheduled for 6:35
p.m. Saturday at the Andover School District Football Stadium.
Andover is just east of Wichita.
The league was formed in August 2000
by sports and entertainment entrepreneur Catherine Masters,
who says it was time for women to have a chance to play
full-contact football in a professional league.
In 2004, the league will field 37
teams for its season.
